Biography Amano, Kunihiro (1929 - )

Born in Hirosaki, Aomori prefecture, Amano Kunihiro graduated at the Aomori Prefectural Technical school. He was self-taught as a woodblock artist, and exhibited his first prints with the Nihon Hanga Kyôkai in 1955. From 1957-1964 he exhibited at the Tokyo Biennales, and after that his prints were represented at many international exhibitions. His prints either show fantastic birds or fish, or he makes prints with strongly coloured geometrical shapes.
