Biography Seki, Kenji (1940 - )
In 1955, aged 15, Seki Kenji began a 10-year apprenticeship at Doi Hangaten, the Tokyo publishing house that started business in 1930. His teacher was Yokoi Giichi, who was Doi's principal printer between 1936 and 1965. In 1965 Seki Kenji became Doi's principal printer until 1995. From 1993 to 1995 Seki taught Paul Binnie the technique of woodblock printing. Seki Kenji is still active as a printer today.
