Biography Nii, Hiroharu (1911 - 1974)

Nii Hiroharu is also known as Arai Kōji. He studied with the well-known artist Okada Saburōsuke (who had worked in France for several periods), and he was one of the founding members of the Japan Print Movement Society (Nihon Hanga Undo Kyokai) in 1949, together with (a.o.) Ono Tadashige and Ueno Makoto. He collaborated on Hanaoka Monogatari - Story of Hanaoka, a series of prints on Chinese miners forced into labour.
