Biography Tateishi, Harumi (1906 - 1994)

Tateishi Harumi was a pupil of Itō Shinsui. In Japan he is well known as a shin hanga artist, specializing in paintings and woodblock prints of bijin (beautiful women). He is better known for his paintings (especially screens - byobu) than for his woodblock prints. His most famous screen is "Clover", which shows two girls at leisure in a field of clover. Works of the artist are shown in the Tateishi Harumi Commemorative Museum in Saga Prefecture.
