Biography Nakagawa, Hachirô (1877 - 1922)

Nakagawa Hachirô is primarily known as a painter. In 1900 he travelled to Europe, returning to it a number of years later. He also travelled to USA. He was a Western-style painter, specializing in landscape paintings. He was a frequent exhibitor and prize-winner at both Bunten and Teiten.
He collaborated with Ishikawa Toraji and Yoshida Hiroshi on a number of portfolios of watercolours. Together with Ishikawa Toraji, Nakazawa Hiromitsu and Yasuda Minoru he published a portfolio of woodblock prints in 1917, New Territory Souvenirs.
