Biography Womrath, Andrew Kay (1874 - 1953)

Andrew Kay Womrath was born in USA on 25 October 1874, and died in France on 1 October 1953. All his life he switched between USA, Great Britain and France. He was mainly known as a painter, but he met Urushibara Yoshijirō in UK, probably in 1920s. His background in the Arts and Crafts movement probably led to his meeting Urushibara, who worked closely with Frank Brangwyn. Together with Urushibara he produced a limited number of woodblock prints, but he is also known to have carved and printed some himself.
