Biography Kôkei, Yoshimura 孝敬 吉村 (1769 - 1836)
Yoshimura Kôkei was the son of Yoshimura Ranshū. He lived in Kyoto. He was one of Maruyama Ōkyo’s famous ten pupils (with Keibun, Bunrin, Nangaku, Genki, Soken a.o.). He was in the service of the Nishi Hogan-ji, for which he painted a series of screens. Yoshimura Kôkei was known for his kachō-ga. His work was included in contemporary anthologies like Bijin Awase in 1809 and Kakusei Chō in 1828
