Biography Nantei, Nishimura 楠亭 西村 (1775 - 1834)

Nantei Nishimura was one of the pupils of Maruyama Ôkyo (1733-1795). He is known to have lived both in Osaka and Kyoto, where he eventually started his own studio. He also became known as a teacher, whose Nantei Gafu was published in 1804. He was a painter of figures, portraits and kacho-ga.
