Biography Raishô, Nakajima 来章,中島 (1796 - 1871)

Nakajima Raishô stands in the middle between the founders of the Maruyama school and 20th school painters such as Takeuchi Seihô: he was born in Otsu, became a pupil of Watanabe Nangaku and later of Maruyama Ôzui, Ôkyo's eldest son and pupil. In his turn he taught Kawabata Gyokushô and Kôno Bairei, who was the teacher of Takeuchi Seihô (1864-1942).
