Biography Taniguchi, Kôkyô 谷口香嬌 (1864 - 1915)

Taniguchi Kôkyô was a pupil of Kôno Bairei, one of the most important Meiji painters. He was one of the founders of the Kyoto school and taught at the Kyoto Municipal School of Fine Arts and Crafts and at the Kyoto College of Fine Arts. He was an exhibitor and juror at the Bunten. His speciality were paintings of landscapes and birds-and-flowers.
