Biography Kaburagi, Kiyokata (1878 - 1973)

Kaburagi Kiyokata was one of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi's last students, and after Yoshitoshi's death in 1892 he continued his training with Mizuno Toshikata, a fellow Yoshitoshi student. He is primarily known as a Japanese-style painter, the majority of his woodblock prints were made between 1901 and 1910. He was influential as teacher and mentor of many Shin Hanga artists, such as Itô Shinsui and Kawase Hasui.
An important and influential artist.
