Recollections of Travel - Tabi no Kaiso.
Two vols. with 12 loose woodblock prints in sumi of places special to the artist, inside a separate woodblock-printed folder. Each print (46 x 33 cm.) on a folded sheet with a 31-syllable verse tanka in Japanese text by the artist along with his seal in red ink. Accompanying book of text translated with biographical notes by George Saito, containing translations of the tankas, descriptions of the locations shown in the prints, a map, and 2 additional small illustrations by Hiratsuka. Both volumes 4to. Text volume 22.7 x 29.5 cm. in saddle-sewn woodblock wrappers in blue and white colours; woodblock printed folder volume measures 23 x 33 cm.; together housed in a yellow decorative cardboard wraparound case with two bone clasps - in its turn housed in a cardboard box. No. 41 of 300 copies.

Fine impression and condition.
Though this set was published in 1951, it is in pristine condition. All elements, the 12 prints, their wrapper, the accompanying volume, the yellow case and the cardboard box have been carefully preserved.
