Kawakami, Sumio (1895 - 1972)

Nanbanburri - Nanbanesque Behaviour
Paper size: 58.8 x 45 cm. Printed on mustard-coloured paper in 1955. Most of the colours are hand-applied, therefore no two prints of this design are identical. This print exists in various editions. The very first, and a very rare one, was printed on thicker, off-white paper. During the printing process of that version the bottom left corner of the (carved) seal broke off, and at least 9 out of 10 impressions show that “defect”.
