Sekino, Jun'ichirō (1914 - 1988)
Village by the sea Paper size: 57.3 x 76.8 cm. Number 6 from an edition of 30, self-printed in October 1942. Stamped Z, Sekino plus the date 2602.10, which is the 2602nd year counting from the enthronement of Nintoku as emperor, a dating method used more often in this period of history. A print with a lot of nave charm and exceptionally rare: I know of the existence of one more copy 6/30 doesnt mean that the edition was completed. This print in unknown in the literature.
Euro SOLD
Fine impression and colours, good condition: several printing creases, and some insect damage bottom left, next to the black Kanji indicating the edition and that it was self-printed. This print was discovered in a frame behind another print, which was slightly smaller, so at top and bottom about 2 cms. of the Sekino was folded back to make it fit the frame, leaving a visible fold. A pity, but it explains why the colours are still so fresh.
