Biography Tanaka, Kunizô (1898 - 1989)

About the life and career of Tanaka Kunizô (田中邦三) very little is known. His best-known work is Tokyo Meisho Hanga Shû – Collection of famous places of Tokyo, published between 1974 and 1977 in five cassettes of 20 prints each.
During this period, in 1976, he also made a series of 20 prints about the life of Jesus Christ. His work is very recognizable and is characterized by shallow carving and a grainy style of printing.
