Biography Shimura, Tatsumi 志村 立美 (1907 - 1980)

In 1924 Shimura Tatsumi became a pupil of Yamakawa Shûhô, and from 1925 he worked as an illustrator for various magazines, newspapers, novels and bookcovers. At the same time he became a painter of beauties, exhibiting his first works in 1927. After the war he made a limited number of bijin-ga (pictures of women). The last part of his life he dedicated his life entirely to painting.
