Okuyama, Gihachirō (1907 - 1981)

Taketsuru Masataka (竹鶴 政孝)
Paper size: 27.7 x 41.5 cm. This is a true print extravaganza: shown is the founder of Nikka Whiskey, Taketsuru Masataka (1894–1979), being toasted by a variety of people: one can see a Portuguese and several Dutchmen, and Taketsuru is flanked by a Western and a Japanese lady. It is worth looking him up on the internet. The print was made in 1939, probably made on the occasion of the founding of the Nikka plant in Yoichi, Hokkaido, in 1940.

Euro SOLD

Fine impression, colours and condition: this print is a tour-de-force: extensive use of mica (see "detail"), not only in the background, but also in details like buttons and ornaments.
