Yoshitoshi, Tsukioka (1839 - 1892)

Nomi no Sukune beats Taima no Kehaya in a wrestling match in a wrestling match in 23 B.C. According to legend this was the origin of sumo tori, sumo wrestling.
From the series Yoshitoshi musha burui - Yoshitoshi's courageous warriors, published by Kobayashi Tetsujirô in 1883.

Euro SOLD

Good/very good impression, very good colours and condition: use of lacquer.
There are numerous editions of this print; the first edition has two small red seals on the left margin and the date filled in.
