A group of 5 shunga chirimen-e (crepe prints), datable to ca. 1850-1860. Each print is ca 12 x 9 cm.
A crepe print was the result of a print ca. 50% larger which was rolled around a bar and then rubbed until it crinkled and became creased as if it had been printed on crepe silk (chirimen 縮緬).

Fine impressions, colours and condition: of course both size and shape are a bit irregular (see also "detail"), but this is the result of the process of shrinking. The prints are loose, not stuck onto the background.
